What is KidsFitmas?

The holiday season is a joyous time of year all around the world. Many cultures celebrate at least one holiday in the late fall or winter. Each holiday is a chance to gather friends and family and rejoice in the things you have in common. However, holidays from different cultures may be more like yours than you realize. Checkout some common themes below!

  • Gathering
  • Tradition
  • Holiday Lights
  • Giving
  • Food

This holiday season we want to give you a chance to celebrate similarities through these differences with KidsFitmas! KidsFitmas is an effort to bring together people of all backgrounds to learn from one another and celebrate as a group. Here are three easy tips to get started!

  1. Talk with people from other cultures. Learning straight for the source is a great way to educate our families on holidays other than thew ones we celebrate.
  2. Use tools to help build understanding. Try a new holiday craft, borrow a book, or purchase a traditional item from a new holiday. Hands on learning can help develop both understanding and empathy!
  3. Embrace learning with your child. We can all benefit from education on cultures different from our own, even as adults! Start as a family by reviewing the list below of holidays and when they fall.
