Eye Health with Pair Eyewear
Have you ever felt your eyes tire or get dry after staring at your computer, television, or cell phone?
You may be staring at a screen for too long and blue light rays emitted by most screens can be part of the problem. While still being studied, these is evidence showing extended exposure to these blur light rays can cause damage to the retina, the part of the eye that detects light! To avoid dry and strained eyes, it's important to follow the 20/20/20 rule: for every 20 minutes on your computer, look at an object 20 feet away from the screen for 20 seconds!
Screen time before getting into bed can also cause you to have trouble sleeping. Blue light can reduce the body's production of melatonin, a natural hormone that controls your sleep cycles. Giving your eyes time without phones and computers before heading to sleep is helpful for getting the rest you need!
While watching a movie or playing on your computer can be a great way to spend time with family and friends, we encourage you to find a balance with other activities that keep your eyes in good health! At PAIR Eyewear, we love to step away from our computers to take a walk outdoors in the beautiful Summer weather.
