Bone Remodeling: Building A Healthy Skeleton
Did you know you are constantly losing bone and then replacing it? This is called remodeling. Two kinds of cells are responsible for remodeling: Osteoblasts and Osteoclasts.
Osteoblasts are cells in our bodies that build new bone. This new bone helps our skeletons get stronger so they can support our bodies when we move and play.
Osteoclasts are cells that break down excess bone. They get rid of old bone that isn’t working anymore to make room for the new bone being built.
What you eat is important to fuel bone remodeling. Calcium improves bone health and helps bones rebuild. Protein and magnesium are also two key nutrients that keep bones healthy. Try these recipes below for a taste of bone-strengthening goodness!
